Voice is a wild animal @ Studio 303 March 17 - 21, 2025
Voice is a wild animal
OBJECTIVE
Tension
inhibits sound. Our voice is in our whole body. Many of the muscles we
use in sound-making are directly connected to our nervous system.
How
do we locate and create safety, comfort, and ease both for and through
vocal practice and play? How do we permit ourselves to explore the edges
of our range through sound, movement, and improvisation in both singing
 and speech?
In this workshop, we will explore the
interconnections between our voice, body, nervous system, and
kinesthetic relationship to language. We will study how both individual
and shared vocal practices may lead us to discover more of our
multifaceted selves and deepen our appreciation of others.
CONTENT
We
will weave together embodied vocal practices towards both singing and
speech. We’ll emphasize self-reflection while also incorporating group
activities to gain insight into our individual vocal habits and
patterns. Our goal is to explore new possibilities for experimentation,
regardless of where we currently are in our journey.
This workshop
is suitable for anyone interested in using their voice for performance,
singing, public speaking, or even in everyday situations. No previous
training or experience is required.
